Over the weekend, Brad and I toured our CSA farm with other shareholders. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.
We share a 3-season box (vegetables, fruits and herbs) and an egg subscription with three other people from our church. We purchased our farm share at the beginning of the year. This arrangement benefits our farmer because she has a cash flow at the start of her season and it guarantees a market for her products. Shareholders do take a chance however, because weather always affects farming. It benefits me, as a shareholder, because I receive fresh produce and eggs at my church's drop-site. Another benefit is that the drop-site is just 1 block away from my apartment!
